She obtained her Pediatrics training at RUSH Medical Center and Pediatric Endocrinology training back at Brown – Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Mimi spent a year at the NIH Clinical Center doing clinical research in CAH, before joining Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Pediatric Endocrinology in 2009. She is the Co-Director of the CAH Comprehensive Care Clinic and enjoys providing a comprehensive program of care for patients and their families living with CAH.
Norma Castaneda (Clinical Research Coordinator)
Amy Seagroves, MD (Post-doctoral Clinical Fellow)
Amy grew up in Concord, NH and went to college at Fordham University in Bronx, NY, majoring in biology and history. She developed a passion for working with children and decided to become a pediatrician. While studying medicine at Albert Einstein in Bronx, she met many patients with diabetes and obesity, and became interested in endocrinology. She got tired of the cold, dreary Northeast winters and decided to go to residency at UC Irvine/Children’s Hospital Orange County. Lucky for us, Amy decided to stay in sunny Southern California for fellowship and continues to be interested in diabetes and obesity. Her research looks at food choices in patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
Nate Overholtzer, BS (Clinical Research Coordinator)
Nate graduated from the University of Southern California in 2019 with a B.S. in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and M.S. in Global Medicine. His research interests include the intersections of neuroscience and endocrinology research, specifically in eating behavior. Nate hopes to continue his education by pursuing a Medical Doctorate and eventually becoming a physician-scientist.
Kate Tanawattanacharoen, BS (Research Assistant)
Kate graduated from Yale University with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a certificate in Global Health. Her research interests include global noncommunicable diseases and child obesity. As a research assistant, she enjoys working with patients in the clinic or at the research unit. Kate aspires to be a physician who collaborates internationally to combat health inequity.
William Kim, BA (Research Assistant)
William received his B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a postbaccalaureate student at the University of Southern California. When he’s not helping out with research inside the lab, he can be found on the golf course, at the gym, or at home spending time with his pet dog and family.
Gagandeep Bhullar, BS (Research Assistant)
Gagandeep received her Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior along with a minor in Human Development from the University of California, Davis. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Southern California. She is interested in research with the Kim Lab because she feels that it will yield insights that will empower health professionals to provide long-term preventive care to patients in order to prevent epidemics such as that of childhood obesity.
